WHERE WE WORK
The well-being of children, especially those who are exploited, orphaned, homeless or diseased has always been and remains the focus of GMF Children's Ministries wherever we work. Our goal is to make sure that your support gets to those who need it most. Presently, we are active in the following countries:

Brazil
- During the last decade, Brazil has faced severe economic crisis. It is estimated that there are over 50 million children living on the streets of Latin America, more than twice the number of people living in Canada. These children face a daily struggle for food, shelter, health and love.

Honduras - In Honduras overwhelming poverty is some what the norm. We want to help make a difference in the lives of children there through partnership with the Mount Carmel Baptist Mission. This mission provides Christ-centered assistance to poverty-stricken communities in Choluteca, Honduras. Founded in 1997 by Fred and Mary Hurd to help the poorest of the poor, the mission now has three churches, two feeding kitchens which provide one meal daily for children, a day care center, a clinic, and a child sponsorship program.

Thousands of boys and girls in Choluteca cannot afford to go to school. Since neither the government nor their families make them go, they simply stay at home, ultimately perpetuating the cycle of poverty for yet another generation. The child sponsorship program changes all that. Just $25 dollars a month will pay for a child's uniform and other supplies required to attend school. It makes a difference in each child's life. It helps break the cycle of poverty, spiritual darkness, and gives children a chance for "Life".

India - GMF-COI India is part of the Cooperative Outreach of India (COI). COI was founded by Ramesh Landge in 1993 to address the impoverished children, women, slum dwellers, and rural poor who are India's most marginalized and least cared for population. Children are the most vulnerable part of society. In the New Delhi region many are deprived of their right to an education due to the utter poverty around them and cultural traditions that deny them access. COI has been working to change this. Child sponsorship helps with health services, nutrition, education, livelihood preparation, spiritual formation, and participation in developmental programs.

Albania
- In the early 1990s, Albania abandoned its long-time Communist rule in favor of democracy. The country suffered severe economic hardships because of the onslaught (into Albania) of thousands of ethnic Albanian Muslims exiting the former Yugoslavia. As a result of these hard times, Albanian children are suffering severe consequences. “GMFChildren Albania” is seeking to raise support for 200+ children in the Shkoder and Tirana Children’s Homes under the administration of Hope for theWorld.

Guatemala
- There are 35 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean with 54 million children under the age of five. According to UNICEF, 60% of this region’s children are living in poverty. Nowhere is this more prevalent than Guatemala. “GMFChildren Guatemala” is seeking to raise support for hundreds of children in the Agua Viva children’s home..
